Social Scientists 101

Prompt: Over the past week, we've been talking a lot about being Social Scientists, and how to make observations and inferences. Now, we want to know, if given the opportunity which of the five Social Scientist jobs you can imagine yourself doing. Perhaps you love dinosaurs, or digging in dirt? Maybe you're really interested in the climate, landforms, buildings and roads? Or do you just love it all? Either way, after all of our hard work in class, we would love to know. As all great social scientists do, remember to include lots of facts and evidence in your blog post, and include a graphic of your chosen social scientist job as a visual clue for others.

If I could be a Social Scientist.......I'd either be a Historian, Geographer or an Anthropologist.
Anthropologist-because I would love to travel around the world and learn more about peoples beliefs and culture. Historian-because I really like reading and writing and learning about the past. Geographer-because the fact of Traveling and Experiencing the different climates. If I had to narrow it down to 2 choices it would be a Geographer or an Anthropologist. But I guess if I really had to have one choice I'd choose being an Anthropologist. Don't you love traveling? I do!
I know I could do that as a Geographer, but for some reason peoples beliefs and culture are more interesting to me than the study of geography around the world. It'd be so fun to live my life traveling even if I didn't stay in a place for long or limited my traveling to 3-4 places. It also would be great to learn more about the world we live in and its many cultures and beliefs other than my own! Anthropology is something I'd like to study because of the many things that makes up cultures everywhere. Architecture, Religious Beliefs, and others. Culture is a beautiful thing because it's what makes us all different and unique in special ways, it's also what brings us together. The main places I'd probably visit would be places that are not usually spoken of but are still living pretty interesting lives. One might be Greenland....I don't know really, but it might be fun to go there. I guess that Greenland was the first place that came to mind. So I could learn many new things. I could also go to places where I could build upon the small things I know.
I've been interested in the Mexican Aztec Pyramids....................
Maybe Australia, where I could learn more about the Aborigines!

Here's my picture:
Just an example of their work.

The sky's the limit with your imagination.........
Well that concludes why if I could be a social scientist-I'd be an Anthropologist.
That's all for now!

About Me!- for Mrs.Narsiman....

Hi! My name is Sergine Cindy(I have two first names)but you can just call me Cindy.
I like to swim, read and meet new people.
I am from and was born in America, but my parents are from Cameroon in Africa.
I have a family of 7 including my maid-Miss Isabel and my dog-Buddy.
I have two younger siblings, so I'm the oldest child of the family.
My younger sister is turning 8 in October and is in 3rd Grade.
My younger brother is 9 turning 10 in March and is in 4th Grade.

I love ISKL and I have great friends here.
Oh, and when I'm older I'd like to be a Pediatrician!

The last 3 books I read were:

  • The Giver by Lois Lowry
  • The Stowaway Solution by Gordon Korman
  • Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen

They were all great books, especially The Giver.

The Last Movie I saw was:

Ice Age 3- I've seen 1 and 2 and my favorite characters have to be:

Sid and Buck.

My academic goal is probably to stay focused in everything I do, and do the best I can possibly do whether it comes to tests or participating in games.

My social goal is to get to know the people I didn't really know last year at Melawati Campus and to also make friends with the new students I meet.

My favorite summer vacation memory that is the most recent is going to China and Hong Kong and visiting Hong Kong Disneyland while I was there.

And to describe myself:

I guess that I could say that I'm:

nice, friendly, caring,

different and interesting in a way...........................

Well- That's Me!

Thanks,

Cindy
